In Avdiivka front north of Stepove, Russian forces made slight advances along the railway tracks in the direction of Ocheretyne. A mechanized Russian attack near Stepove was repelled by Ukrainian forces.
In Bakhmut front Russians made advances towards the road leading into Klishchiivka from the north and occupied parts of it. This area holds a strategic height and fortifications and is therefore important.
Ukrainian forces repelled a large scale Russian attack on the outskirts of Syn’kivka several armoured vehicles and assault groups of Russian forces were destroyed.
The European Council has decided to start negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced.
Hungary abstained from voting for the start of negotiations with Ukraine on EU accession, but did not veto. In a video posted on Facebook, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban reiterated his position that Ukraine is not ready to start negotiations.
Estonia provides Ukraine with a new military aid package worth €80 million. It includes Javelin anti tank missiles, machine guns, ammunition for light weaponry, various vehicles and vessels and diving equipment.
Ukraine received the third tranche of financing in the amount of about $900 million from the International Monetary Fund as part of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program.
