Ukraine War Update as of February 22: Pobjeda Captured by Russian Forces

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has seen significant developments as of February 22, 2024. Russian forces have successfully captured the strategically important village of Pobjeda after months of intense fighting. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had established a defensive perimeter around Pobjeda, extending from Mar’inka to the village itself. Following the complete capture of Pobjeda, Russian forces extended their control to a small fortified area located north of the village.

To the west of Robotyne, Ukrainian forces have successfully repelled several large-scale Russian attacks. Russian forces that were concealing themselves on the outskirts faced resistance, leading to their capture or elimination by Ukrainian forces.

In the Kherson direction, Russian forces are still trying to clear Krynky from the remaining AFU pockets of resistance. According to the latest information still a lot AFU soliders are operating in the northern part of the village.

Geolocated footage indicates Russian advances west of Verbove, near the Surovikin line. The AFU is actively utilizing cluster rounds in this region to counter the Russian offensive.

Ukrainian HIMARS strike targeted a Russian training ground in Trudivske in Donetsk region. According to sources the strike kills 65+ Russian soldiers.

  1. Canada Considers Missile Transfer: Canada is contemplating the transfer of CRV7 missiles to Ukraine, according to Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair. This decision comes in the wake of Ukraine showcasing innovative use of various technologies, including drones, in the conflict.

IMF Agreement with Ukraine: Ukraine is reportedly close to reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to receive the next disbursement of $900 million from its $15.6 billion loan.   3. Iran Delivers Missiles to Russia: According to Reuters, Iran has delivered 400 Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar missiles to Russia. These missiles have a range of 300 to 700 kilometers. The delivery of these missiles adds a new dimension to the conflict, potentially impacting the strategic balance in the region.
