Kate Middleton’s Trooping the Colour Fashion a Modern Audrey Hepburn Moment
Princess Kate turned heads with her impeccable fashion choice during her first official engagement in nearly six months over the weekend.
The Princess of Wales, who is currently undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, attended Trooping the Colour alongside husband Prince William and their three children.
Writing for the Daily Mail, fashion editor Alice Hare detailed Kate’s outfit, which included a recycled dress from Jenny Packham, previously worn during a pre-coronation meeting last year.
To refresh the look, the princess added a neck bow tie and a white ribbon on the black waistband of the white midi dress.
To accentuate her ensemble, Kate chose pearl earrings previously worn at Prince Louis’ christening in 2018, a black Mulberry clutch she has owned for more than a decade, and a pair of white stilettos from Jimmy Choo, which made their ninth appearance in public.
The standout piece was a never-before-worn hat by Philip Treacy, transforming what could have been a corporate pencil dress into a showstopping occasion outfit.

Hare raved about the updates to Kate’s dress, noting that the “look seemed anything but ‘seen that before.’”
Royal watchers also drew parallels between Kate’s effortless style at King Charles’ official birthday and Audrey Hepburn’s iconic black and white dress in the film “My Fair Lady.”
Princess Kate’s fashion game received widespread praise, with many appreciating her ability to blend timeless elegance with modern touches, cementing her status as a contemporary style icon.
