Dancing With the Stars Pros Talk Family and Future Plans
The glitz, the glamour, and the graceful moves on the dance floor have captivated audiences for years on the hit show Dancing With the Stars. While the competition heats up under the dazzling mirrorball trophy, some of the show’s professional dancers have found their perfect match in life beyond the ballroom, while others have chosen to keep their personal lives separate from the spotlight.
One such dancer who found love outside of Hollywood is Lindsay Arnold. The former So You Think You Can Dance star exchanged vows with her high school sweetheart, Sam Cusick, in their home state of Utah in June 2015. After two years of marital bliss, Lindsay couldn’t help but gush about her partner, stating, “Oh my gosh, I don’t know how I could be with anybody else.” She cherished the fact that she had found someone who understood her “real” life, beyond the glitz and glamour of the dance world. For them, the best moments were simple: chilling, hanging out, talking, and cuddling. Despite their crazy lives, they always made time for each other, cherishing every moment they spent together. The couple put down roots in Salt Lake City, where they enjoy their family time when Lindsay is not competing on the ABC ballroom dance show.
In May 2020, Lindsay and Sam shared the joyous news that they were expecting their first child. Their daughter, Sage, was born six months later, filling their lives with even more love and happiness. Lindsay expressed her gratitude for her husband in a touching Instagram tribute, saying, “Blessed beyond words to have this man by my side for eternity… I am grateful for our beautiful daughter that we made together, and I am already so blown away by how natural you are as a father.”
While Lindsay found her life partner outside the dance world, other Dancing With the Stars professionals found love within it. Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd not only turned their professional bond into a successful partnership on the dance floor but also into a happy marriage. The couple tied the knot in July 2017, shortly after welcoming their son, Shai Aleksander, into the world.
As their son celebrated his third birthday, Peta expressed her desire to expand their family, saying, “We definitely want to have a baby and it will be very, very soon.” She shared her hopes for Shai to grow up with siblings and experience the joy of a larger family. Maksim also revealed his desire to have a daughter someday, expressing his elation when Peta announced their son’s gender and his readiness for a girl. Their love for their son and their dreams of a growing family continue to bring them closer together.
Whether finding love outside the spotlight or within the dance world, the Dancing With the Stars pros have shown that true love can be found when you least expect it. Their journeys remind us that while the mirrorball trophy may shine brightly, the sparkle of love and family is the real treasure that lights up their lives.
