In September, Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, is set to make his return to New York City for an action-packed visit. The Prince will be attending the Earthshot Prize Summit, along with several other engagements and meetings during his two-day stay in the Empire State.

According to an exclusive source speaking to Us Weekly, the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit is scheduled to take place on September 19, coinciding with New York Climate Week. Prince William’s itinerary promises to be quite busy, and he is eagerly looking forward to his trip across the pond, as shared by the insider.

The last official visit made by the 41-year-old Prince of Wales to New York City dates back to 2014. Plans for his return during last year’s Innovation Summit were halted due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96, just over a week before the event. In a heartfelt video message played during the 2022 Summit, Prince William expressed the significance of protecting the environment, a cause that was close to his grandmother’s heart.

The Earthshot Prize was founded by Prince William and The Royal Foundation in 2020, aiming to recognize and reward individuals and organizations that come up with groundbreaking solutions to combat climate change. The ultimate goal is to find and implement solutions quickly to achieve a stable climate by 2030.

During the upcoming September Summit, Prince William will play a crucial role in unveiling this year’s 15 finalists for the prestigious Earthshot Prize. He will also introduce their innovative climate solutions. Joining him on stage will be Mike Bloomberg, the global advisor to Earthshot winners and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions. Both William and Bloomberg are expected to address the attendees during this special presentation.

Following the announcement of the 15 finalists in September, a two-month wait will ensue before the five Earthshot Prize Award winners are revealed. The third annual awards ceremony is set to be held in Singapore on November 7. Each of the five winners will receive a remarkable £1 million to further their work in the ongoing fight against climate change.

Prince William’s dedication to environmental causes is evident, as he previously attended last year’s Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston alongside his wife, Princess Kate. Prior to the ceremony, the royal couple engaged in meetings with Mayor Wu and enjoyed a memorable Boston Celtics game.

As the Earthshot Prize continues to recognize and celebrate the groundbreaking efforts of environmental pioneers, Prince William’s involvement in the initiative showcases the British Royal Family’s commitment to addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change. With a shared vision for a sustainable and rejuvenated planet, Prince William’s visit to New York City will undoubtedly reinforce the significance of global collaboration in safeguarding the future of our environment.
