Aedas Revolutionizes Architectural Design with AI turning Sketches into Renders in Minutes

Renowned architecture firm Aedas, founded by designer Keith Griffiths, is embracing artificial intelligence to transform the traditional design process. Aedas, known for its iconic skyscrapers, transit stations, and prominent projects across Asia, has adopted an AI art generator to streamline and accelerate the rendering of architectural concepts.

At Fortune’s Brainstorm Design conference in Macau, Griffiths highlighted the pivotal role of sketching in the inception of Aedas’ projects. However, recognizing the evolving demands of clients, Griffiths emphasized that a mere sketch was no longer sufficient. Clients now expect detailed renders incorporating elements such as light, color, shading, and backgrounds, and they often seek multiple design options.

Traditionally, the process of generating these options could take up to three weeks. However, with the integration of an AI art generator, Aedas has revolutionized its workflow. The design team can now transform a rough ink sketch into multiple renders featuring a dazzling skyscraper within an urban landscape in just a few minutes. While these AI-generated renders may not be flawless, they serve as an excellent starting point for discussions with clients.

Griffiths expressed his excitement about leveraging technology to enhance the design process, stating, “I can’t do anything on a computer, and I haven’t been able to do it for the whole of my career, for 40 years. Now I’ve got a computer working for me for the first time.” This shift exemplifies the symbiotic relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence, empowering architects to explore new possibilities and engage in more dynamic client interactions.

As Aedas pioneers the integration of AI in architectural design, the industry witnesses a paradigm shift where technology accelerates creativity and collaboration. The use of AI art generators not only expedites the design phase but also opens doors to innovative approaches in architectural visualization, marking a significant leap forward for the field.
