Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Separate Paths Spark Divorce Speculation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent decision to make solo public appearances has fueled speculation about the state of their marriage, with some questioning if a split might be on the horizon.

However, PR expert Ed Coram James offers a different perspective, suggesting that the couple’s individual pursuits may reflect a calculated rebranding rather than a personal divide.

James, speaking with GB News, shared insights into the Sussexes’ evolving public image. “Since their marriage, Harry and Meghan have had a distinct brand,” he explained. “Call it ‘Harry and Meghan,’ call it ‘the Sussexes’—for years, they have become synonymous with one another.”

According to James, this cohesive brand identity has shaped their public perception as a team rather than individuals.

However, James believes the recent separation in public appearances is likely a response to the growing challenges around their combined image.

Following the headline-grabbing Oprah interview, where Harry and Meghan publicly aired grievances with the royal family, the couple’s brand began to face mounting scrutiny and criticism. “That brand has been steadily becoming more toxic and thus commercially untenable,” he noted.

James sees the couple’s new approach as a tactical decision to reshape their individual identities and reconnect with audiences who may feel distanced by past controversies.

“From a PR perspective, the Sussexes brand is toxic,” he explained, but separating professionally offers each of them a chance to create fresh public personas that align with their unique goals and interests.

In recent weeks, Meghan has been spotted at fashion and social events in California, while Harry has attended global initiatives related to mental health and veteran support.

These separate appearances may signify a shift in focus, allowing each to explore personal passions and align with brands that resonate with their individual values.

By positioning themselves as separate entities, Harry and Meghan could potentially refresh their public images, shifting away from the “Sussexes” brand that has faced criticism.

James contends that this rebranding could allow the pair to engage with different audiences and perhaps even attract new business ventures.

While some royal watchers see these solo outings as an indication of marital trouble, James dismisses this notion, emphasizing that their strategy may simply be an attempt to regain public favor. This move, he argues, allows them to “create an entirely separate brand with completely different labels.”
