Kate Middleton Breaks Silence on Why She Can’t Travel with Her Kids

Kate Middleton has finally opened up about her dream to take her children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—on international trips, but there’s one major reason why it hasn’t happened yet.

During her St. Patrick’s Day visit to the Wellington Barracks in London, the Princess of Wales shared rare details about her travel plans with her family. Speaking to an Australian reservist, Kate admitted that while she loves to travel, she and Prince William have struggled to find the right time to take their children abroad.

Recalling their 2014 royal tour, where they brought Prince George as a baby, Kate revealed how fascinated her eldest son is by the fact that he has already been to Australia and New Zealand.

“George finds it fascinating that he has been to Australia and New Zealand,” she said. “I would like to go back there with them now.”

But despite her desire to revisit these places with all three of her kids, she explained why those plans have yet to materialize. “It’s finding time to do that,” Kate admitted, hinting at their demanding royal schedules.

The Princess of Wales also revealed that she has a personal love for traveling, sharing a surprising detail about a place that holds a special meaning in her heart.

“I love to travel—yes, it’s a long flight. But I love the Middle East because that’s familiar to me [from] growing up,” she confessed.

Many royal fans may not know that Kate spent part of her childhood in Jordan, as her father worked for British Airways. This could explain her strong attachment to the region and her desire to introduce her children to different cultures.

Kate believes travel is an essential experience for children, saying, “There are so many opportunities now to travel, I think it’s brilliant to experience it.”

However, royal duties often dictate the couple’s travel plans, making it difficult to carve out time for personal family trips. But that could be changing soon.

With Prince George turning 12 in July, sources speculate that Kate and William may finally plan an overseas trip with all three of their children.

“We tend to go further afield when it’s official visits,” Kate explained. “Otherwise, you end up seeing lots of insides of amazing buildings, but you don’t get to meet that many people.”

This year could mark a turning point for the royal family, as Kate and William have been increasingly focused on giving their children as normal a childhood as possible, despite their royal responsibilities.

If the family does take an international trip together, it would be a historic moment for the future King and his siblings—one that royal fans around the world would be eager to witness.
