Musk’s TruthGPT Aims to Provide Accurate Answers and Address AI Safety Concerns
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has revealed his plans to launch an Artificial intelligence (AI) platform named “TruthGPT.” The move is amidst the buzz and traffic that AI platforms are generating globally. Musk co-founded OpenAI, an AI platform, in 2015, but he stepped down from the company’s board in 2018 to focus on Tesla and SpaceX. Now, Musk is diving back into the AI ecosystem with the launch of TruthGPT.
Musk wants to launch an alternative AI tool to challenge platforms by Microsoft and Google. He has criticized ChatGPT, an OpenAI platform backed by Microsoft, saying the platform is “training the AI to lie.” He also accused Larry Page, Google’s co-founder, of taking artificial intelligence with levity. Musk wants TruthGPT to provide accurate answers and try to understand the nature of the universe. He believes that similar platforms are unsafe, but his TruthGPT might be the best path to safety and “unlikely annihilate humans.”
Musk is a “go-getter” who will give his all to actualize the success of this project. There are insider reports that one of the significant steps towards actualizing the dream of this alternative AI platform was to register and incorporate a firm named X.AI Corp in Nevada. The insider report revealed that Musk contained the name in March this year and listed himself as the Sole director of the firm.
Industry players say Musk has devised the tactics of amplifying fear and the risk associated with Artificial Intelligence to reduce the usage of rival AI tools— while he perfects his TruthGPT. His call for a six-month pause in developing AI systems could corroborate this, citing potential societal risks.
It is intriguing that amidst these criticisms and warnings, Elon is developing an AI tool. Nonetheless, there are expectations that in the coming days, he will perfect all plans for the public launch and usage of the TruthGPT.
