Public sentiment towards Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has seen a downturn, especially after the release of Harry’s memoir “Spare” last year.
The couple’s Netflix documentary and their interview with Oprah Winfrey also did not appear to improve their standing with the public.
Royal commentator Maureen Callahan shared her views on Meghan Markle’s strategies for gaining attention and maintaining relevance during a discussion on GBN America.
Callahan expressed that it’s unsurprising their support has waned, stating, “It’s not just her popularity that continues to decline, it’s also her cultural relevance.”
Callahan referred to a recent photo of Meghan with a friend, where she was seen wearing a $1700 Cartier necklace, as an example of her being out of touch with the current economic concerns of the average American.
“The American economy is the top of concerns for the average American, they are feeling pinched. This display of wealth is not going down well,” she added.
Despite maintaining a relatively low profile in recent months, with minimal public appearances, Callahan speculated on how Meghan might regain the spotlight.
She suggested that Meghan might write a memoir, calling it “one arrow left in her quiver” to maintain relevance. Callahan elaborated, “It’s been rumoured for a long time that Meghan might write a memoir.
There aren’t many things left that Meghan can pull out of her hat in terms of garnering some relevance. The Netflix deal is all but dead.
She is doing a cooking show but I can’t imagine many will watch it. The only other arrow in her quiver would be to write a scandalous memoir. It makes sense.”

A recent poll by Redfield and Wilton showed that Meghan Markle is “still less popular than Princess Kate” in America.
The poll, conducted with 1,500 Americans, reflects Meghan’s mixed relationship with the American public and her decreasing popularity in comparison to other royal figures.
