Finally GTA 6 Trailer Release Date Announced by Rockstar Games

In an eagerly awaited announcement, Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the release date for the Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) trailer. Scheduled to drop on Tuesday, December 5, at 9 am ET in the US, the first footage promises a glimpse into the highly-anticipated crime odyssey sequel. Rockstar Games hinted at the game’s setting through an image of a sunset and palm tree silhouettes, affirming speculations that GTA 6 will be based in a fictionalized version of Miami, reminiscent of Vice City.

Contrary to expectations, Geoff Keighley won’t be presenting the trailer at The Game Awards 2023. However, the possibility of teasers or screenshot releases remains open. The announcement follows a significant data leak in mid-2022, offering a sneak peek into the in-development gameplay featuring the lead crime couple, allegedly named Jason and Lucia. Notably, Lucia marks the franchise’s first female protagonist, representing a departure from previous portrayals of women.

Rockstar Games has yet to unveil the official title for the game, referring to it simply as the ‘next Grand Theft Auto.’ This leaves room for speculation about whether it might be a spin-off with an unconventional subtitle. The long-awaited sequel is tentatively set for a launch window in the fiscal year 2025, as hinted in a May earnings call at Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive.

Recent changes on Rockstar’s online platform, formerly known as the ‘Social Club,’ now rebranded as the ‘Rockstar Games platform,’ suggest significant transformations aligning with the arrival of GTA 6. The deletion of previous Instagram posts and alterations to the logo indicate a shift towards a new era for the gaming giant.

GTA Online, the multiplayer counterpart to Grand Theft Auto V, has served as a lucrative venture for Rockstar, providing a decade-long stream of multiplayer content. The announcement raises questions about how existing Social Club members will transition to the new platform.

As anticipation builds for GTA 6, the 2013-released Grand Theft Auto V continues its remarkable success, boasting 190 million copies sold worldwide. Rockstar’s recent confirmation that the remastered Grand Theft Auto trilogy will be available on Netflix from December 14 further adds to the excitement. The upcoming GTA 6 is expected to debut on current-gen PS5 and Xbox Series S/X before making its way to the PC, following the pattern set by previous Rockstar releases.
