Meghan Markle Omits Surname on New Website, Further Estranging from Father Thomas Markle

In the latest move by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has seemingly distanced herself from her estranged father, Thomas Markle, as the royal couple launched their new website. The website, a replacement for their Archewell foundation’s site, conspicuously excludes Meghan’s family surname ‘Markle.’

The absence of ‘Markle’ is apparent in Meghan’s profile and about description on the website. The about section focuses on the endeavors of “The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” shaping the future through business and philanthropy. However, Meghan’s family surname is notably absent.

Born and raised in Southern California, Meghan’s profile details her education at an all-girls Catholic school and highlights her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, becoming “The Duchess of Sussex.” While she continues to use her royal title, the omission of her family surname raises eyebrows.

This isn’t the first instance of Meghan distancing herself from ‘Markle.’ Reports suggest that she initially dropped her last name publicly when she and Prince Harry launched the Archewell foundation website. The trend continued with the description of Archewell Audio, their podcast on Spotify, where her last name was notably absent.

The estrangement between Meghan and her father dates back to 2018, just days before her wedding to Prince Harry. The rift intensified when Thomas Markle allegedly staged paparazzi photos and lied to Meghan about speaking to the press. The recent omission of ‘Markle’ from the new website seems to underline the continued distancing of Meghan from her family surname.
