Amid rumors that she was pressured into attending the event despite battling cancer, royal expert Katie Nicholl clarified the situation, revealing that it was entirely the Princess’s decision to attend.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Nicholl emphasized that there was “no pressure” from the royal family for Kate to be present.
She highlighted that Kate’s appearance at the ceremony was motivated by her personal determination to support King Charles and participate in the significant event.
“There was no pressure on her from anyone,” Nicholl stated. “She really wanted to do this.
She turned a corner in her treatment… When she turned that corner, I was told that Trooping was a goal for her.”
Nicholl further explained that Kate had received approval from her medical team before deciding to attend.
She also discussed her plans with both her father-in-law, King Charles, and her husband, Prince William, who fully supported her decision.
“Charles has been a great pillar of support to Catherine when she said that she’d really like to be there at Trooping. He was 100 percent behind it.
The idea that she was going to upstage him didn’t even cross his mind. He just wanted his daughter-in-law by his side,” Nicholl added.

The expert noted the immense scrutiny Kate faced during the event, acknowledging the toll it must have taken on her given her health condition.
“I think we can probably imagine that she probably had a long and well-deserved rest afterwards. I don’t think we can expect to see her in public for a little while. That’s going to take some recovery from.”
