King Charles Faces Backlash from Prince William and Kate Middleton Over Role Assigned to Prince George

King Charles recently encountered unexpected resistance from Prince William and Kate Middleton regarding a significant royal role assigned to their eldest son, Prince George.

The tension arose when King Charles appointed the then-10-year-old George as a Page of Honour during his Coronation last year, a role traditionally reserved for older, more experienced royals.

Royal author Tom Quinn revealed to Express.co.uk that the decision was not without controversy. According to Quinn, there was a “bit of an argument” between the King and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The royal couple, known for their dedication to providing a normal childhood for their children, expressed concerns that the role might be too demanding for young George.

“I’ve heard from my contacts that there is a bit of an argument going on about whether George should play a more formal role,” Quinn explained. “I’ve heard that Kate and William are worried that it will be too much for him.”

William and Kate have consistently worked to shield their children from excessive public scrutiny, striving to give them as ordinary a life as possible.

The concerns about George’s role echo past criticisms faced by William and Harry during their own childhoods, when they were sometimes thrust into formal situations that seemed inappropriate for their age.

Quinn suggested that the debate over George’s involvement might have been influenced by these past experiences.

The role of Page of Honour, a significant responsibility, was a departure from the couple’s usual approach to their children’s public appearances.

Despite the concerns, Prince George did fulfill his role as pageboy during the Coronation.

However, the discussion surrounding the appropriateness of such roles for young royals highlights the ongoing balancing act faced by the family as they navigate royal duties and personal values.
