Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Children at Risk Over Lower Buckingham Palace Balcony

The east wing of Buckingham Palace is set to open to the public, offering visitors a glimpse of the iconic balcony that has hosted numerous royal family moments over the years.

Royal correspondent Emily Nash recently previewed the balcony and raised concerns about its safety, particularly regarding young children like those of Prince William and Princess Kate.

Nash noted that despite visitors being unable to step onto the balcony, she found it surprisingly low and expressed nervousness about its suitability for children.

Speaking on Hello! Magazine’s A Right Royal podcast, she shared her observations: “It’s much lower than you think.

Again you’re not allowed to step out onto it, but it’s quite deep, in terms of fitting several people in, behind each other.”

She highlighted that a small box is used for the youngest children to view flypasts over the balustrade, indicating safety measures in place.

Nash humorously suggested using “reins” for the more lively children, alluding to Prince Louis without explicitly naming him.

Podcast host Emmy Griffiths questioned why the balcony isn’t accessible to visitors, prompting Andrea Caamano to remark, “It sounds dangerous,” reflecting on potential safety hazards associated with public access.

As Buckingham Palace prepares to open this historic area to the public, Nash’s insights underscore the importance of maintaining safety protocols, especially around areas like the balcony that hold both historical significance and potential risks.
