King Charles Shocking Decision As He Won’t Strip Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of Their Titles

Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, King Charles III is reportedly unwilling to strip the couple of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles—a move that would have been seen as a dramatic escalation in the royal rift.
According to royal expert Phil Dampier, the monarch is hesitant to take such a drastic step, even though he disapproves of Meghan frequently emphasizing her connection to Sussex.
“I doubt King Charles would like Meghan making references to the importance of Sussex as her name,” Dampier told The Sun. “But I’ve always felt he’s reluctant to start any process of stripping her and Harry of their titles.”
The reason? It’s not just about public perception—it’s also a politically sensitive issue. Dampier explained that revoking the Sussex titles would be complicated and could create even more division between Harry and the royal family.
“It would be difficult to do, and he doesn’t want to make the rift any worse, hoping one day there might be a reconciliation with his son,” he added.
But while Charles may be holding back from taking official action, Meghan’s latest Netflix project, With Love, Meghan, is doing little to mend the fractured relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family.
“The show won’t do anything to help mend the rift between them,” Dampier stated. “It’s mainly just drivel about re-arranging fruit and lighting candles.”
However, he acknowledged that at least Meghan is trying to generate income from something other than criticizing the royals.
“At least Meghan is trying to make money out of something else besides attacking the royal family,” he noted.

Despite remaining silent on Meghan’s latest venture, there’s speculation that King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton might secretly watch it out of sheer curiosity.
“I’m sure if you asked their spokesmen, both the King and William and Kate would say they won’t be watching Meghan’s show,” Dampier said. “But it’s hard to believe they wouldn’t take a sneak look.”
Beyond the ongoing drama, what truly saddens King Charles, according to Dampier, is his lack of relationship with his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.
“It’s very sad for Charles that he doesn’t really know them or see them,” he shared, pointing out that the young royals are being raised in the U.S. with American accents, far from their royal heritage.
Despite everything that has happened, Dampier believes that Charles would still embrace the opportunity to be a grandfather if given the chance.
“He dotes on William and Kate’s kids, and I’m sure he would be a loving grandfather to Harry and Meghan’s children if given the chance,” he said.
For now, it appears King Charles is choosing to play the long game, keeping the door open for a potential reconciliation. But with tensions still high and Meghan continuing to build her brand under the Sussex title, how long will the monarch’s patience last.
