Travis Kelce Reveals Awkward Moment Before Meeting Prince William at Taylor Swift’s London Show
NFL star Travis Kelce has revealed what really happened when he came face to face with Prince William at Taylor Swift’s sold-out Eras Tour stop in London earlier this year.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who took the stage with Swift at Wembley Stadium in June, admitted that the moment carried extra pressure as the Prince of Wales was in the audience with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Speaking on the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, Travis said he had been warned about how to behave before being introduced to the royals backstage. “We met royalty, guys. There was royalty at the show,” he said with a grin.
He explained that he wasn’t sure how to properly greet the future King. “I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to bow, curtsy, or just be an American idiot and shake their hand,” Travis joked. “We wanted to be polite, especially on this side of the pond.”
Jason clarified that they were told bowing wasn’t necessary since it wasn’t an official royal event. “If it would’ve been an official meeting-of-royalty event, then it would have been that,” he explained, noting how relaxed the atmosphere felt backstage.
Despite the nerves, Travis said Prince William immediately put them at ease. “I got there early and got to meet Prince William. How ‘bout that? Your Royal Highness,” he recalled.
Far from being intimidating, the Prince of Wales came across as approachable. Travis even described him as “so cool” and “the coolest m***********.” Jason echoed his brother’s praise, saying, “He was awesome. He was a good dude.”
The NFL stars also had a chance to meet William’s children, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9, both of whom joined their father at the show in a rare public outing without their mother, Princess Kate.

Travis spoke warmly about the young royals, calling them “an absolute delight to meet.” He added, “They were wonderful people. They’re part of a monarchy… it’s hard to be a down-to-earth human being, I would assume. But they came off that way completely.”
