Buckingham Palace Issues Significant Statement Amidst Kate Middleton’s Cancer Battle
In the wake of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s announcement of a general election scheduled for July 4, Buckingham Palace has issued a significant statement expressing regret for any inconvenience caused by the postponement of royal engagements.
This decision comes amidst heightened sensitivity due to King Charles and Princess Kate Middleton’s ongoing battle with cancer.
King Charles and Queen Camilla have extended their sincere apologies to individuals who may be impacted by the decision to delay engagements that could potentially divert attention from or interfere with the election campaign.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace stated, “Following the Prime Minister’s statement this afternoon calling a General Election, The Royal Family will – in accordance with normal procedure – postpone engagements that may appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign.
Their Majesties send their sincere apologies to any of those who may be affected as a result.”
Royal expert Cameron Walker shared the palace statement, noting that while D-Day memorial engagements will proceed as planned, other engagements will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
