According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, some of William’s friends would mockingly refer to Kate with the phrase “Doors to Manual,” a jibe aimed at her mother, Carole Middleton, who had worked as a British Airways flight attendant.

Nicholl shared these insights on the Vanity Fair Dynasty podcast, praising Kate for her dignified response to the derogatory comments.
“To her full credit, Kate never rose to it—the snootiness of the upper classes leveled at what they called the en-masse Middletons,” Nicholl remarked.
Despite the hurtful nature of the remarks, Kate maintained her composure and refused to let the comments affect her.
An aide revealed to the Sunday Times Magazine that the jibes were not easily brushed aside. “It was never water off a duck’s back, but she has extraordinary strength of character and resilience. I’ve never once seen or heard of her losing her temper,” the aide noted.
