Meghan Markle Slammed for Turning Invictus Games into a Runway Before Leaving Canada Without Prince Harry

Meghan Markle has once again found herself at the center of controversy, as critics accuse her of using the Invictus Games 2025 as a “personal fashion show” rather than focusing on the athletes.
The Duchess of Sussex departed Canada ahead of the event’s closing ceremony, reportedly to return to California and reunite with her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Royal commentator Sarah-Louise Robertson did not hold back in her criticism, claiming that Meghan’s presence at the Games was more about promoting herself than supporting the veterans.
“She is just the worst PR crisis gift that keeps on giving,” Robertson remarked. “She can’t help herself—she took this moment to present herself for her own projects.”
Robertson also pointed to a video Meghan shared from the event, mocking her dramatic exit. “Those screams echoing down the mountainside as you hear her fade away into the distance—Harry was probably wondering if that’s her gone forever,” she quipped.
Meghan’s public displays of affection toward Prince Harry also drew criticism. Many pointed out that she was constantly “clinging” to her husband during the event, with Robertson calling it a deliberate attempt to stay in the spotlight.
“She’s used these last five days really as her runway, flashing designer clothes and plastering herself everywhere,” Robertson continued.
“We’ve hardly heard anything about the athletes—I don’t even know who any of them are, sadly. It’s really just been the Meghan show.”
The Duchess of Sussex was seen in multiple high-end outfits throughout her time in Vancouver, including a $2,000 coat and a Chanel handbag.

Critics argued that these extravagant fashion choices overshadowed the true purpose of the Games, which is to honor wounded veterans.
Meghan’s early departure from the Invictus Games has also raised eyebrows. Many expected the Duchess to remain by Prince Harry’s side for the closing ceremony, yet she abruptly left before the event concluded.
Some speculate that Meghan’s return to California was strategically timed to avoid further scrutiny, while others believe she wanted to shift focus back to her personal ventures. So far, neither Meghan nor Harry have commented on the backlash.
With Meghan now back in California, Prince Harry is expected to continue his duties alone at the Games’ final events. The Duke of Sussex, who founded the Invictus Games in 2014, has been deeply involved in supporting the wounded service members participating in the event.
Despite Harry’s efforts, many royal watchers feel that Meghan’s presence took the spotlight away from the veterans. “She really should have let Harry shine here,” one commentator noted. “Instead, it became all about her.”
This isn’t the first time Meghan has been accused of making an event about herself. Critics have previously pointed out how she often steals the spotlight at public events, with some calling it a calculated PR strategy.
Her exit from Canada also comes at a time when the Sussexes face increasing speculation about their marriage. A recent Vanity Fair exposé suggested that Meghan is in talks to write a tell-all book, which could further strain her relationship with the royal family.
