European Princess Breaks Silence Says Traumatised Prince Harry Deserves Sympathy Not Backlash

A European royal has broken her silence to defend Prince Harry, revealing why she believes the Duke of Sussex is still suffering from the trauma of Princess Diana’s tragic death.
Princess Delphine of Belgium, the daughter of former King Albert II, has expressed heartfelt sympathy for Harry and his ongoing emotional battles.
Speaking on the podcast It’s Reigning Men, the Belgian princess said she has followed Harry’s journey closely, particularly because of her connection to his late mother, Princess Diana.
“Lady Diana was just part of my life when I was in England,” Princess Delphine shared. “Then she had these children, and everything, and then this death was just horrible.”
She described the aftermath of Diana’s fatal car crash in 1997 as a deeply traumatic event for Harry, one that she believes has shaped many of his actions in adulthood. “I feel very sorry for Harry because I think that was traumatic for him,” she said solemnly.
The princess went further, defending the Duke’s recent controversies, including his concerns over personal security, which have repeatedly made headlines.
“This thing about security. I think it’s to do with what happened to his mother,” Delphine explained, referring to Harry’s legal battle over police protection while in the UK.
“I understand the guy. He’s just traumatised,” she said. “And I understand, so he’s doing these things, and everybody’s bullying him, but not thinking about his trauma.”
Her comments come at a time when Prince Harry continues to face intense public scrutiny, much of it stemming from his decision to leave royal duties after Megxit and from explosive claims made in his memoir Spare.
Princess Delphine’s remarks suggest that many critics may be overlooking the lasting psychological damage caused by Diana’s death and its impact on a young Prince Harry.
“He’s just been kind of left,” she added, noting that the royal establishment and media appear to have ignored his ongoing need for support.
Her defense of Harry contrasts sharply with the views of some royal insiders who have branded him as entitled or difficult since stepping back with Meghan Markle in 2020.

However, Princess Delphine brings a unique perspective as a royal who has fought her own public battles. Her own story of royal recognition came after a lengthy legal fight to be acknowledged by her biological father, King Albert II.
She knows firsthand the emotional toll that comes with growing up surrounded by secrets, public opinion, and royal protocols.
By offering public support for Prince Harry, Delphine becomes one of the few royals from outside the UK to speak so directly and compassionately about his personal struggles.
Her words may resonate with a growing number of people who believe that Harry’s mental health and unresolved trauma deserve more attention than the criticism he receives.
With the royal family still divided after years of rifts, Delphine’s perspective also raises an important question: what would Princess Diana have done if she were alive today?
As speculation continues about possible reconciliation between Harry and King Charles, this moment of empathy from European royalty could mark a quiet turning point in public attitudes.
While the media continues to dissect every move Harry and Meghan make, Princess Delphine’s simple message stands out: behind the headlines is a man still haunted by the loss of his mother. And maybe, just maybe, what Prince Harry needs most now is not more blame, but more compassion.
